AS/A2 Applied Art and Design
What is this course about? This is a broad based Art and Design course in which you shall acquire skills, knowledge and understanding to help you to develop and present high quality work. You will learn about the Art and Design industry and what it is like to be either an artist or a designer within that industry. All work must be produced as if for a client.
How do I qualify for this course?
How is the course structured? This course is like all other A levels in that it has an AS /A2 structure. AS is completed in Year 13 and is made up of six units for double award and three units for single award. This is assessed through two moderations, one in January and one in May. A2 is completed in Year 14 and again students complete the same number of units with two moderations. There is no exam but in each year briefs are issued by OCR and are assessed at moderation.
What will I learn about on this course?
What could I go on to do at the end of my course? The GCE in Applied Art and Design qualifies for UCAS points so if you complete it successfully you could move on to:- 1. A foundation Diploma in Art and Design followed by; 2. A Degree specialising in an area of your choice followed by; 3. A job within the multi million pound Art and Design industry.
